“Two Knockers Up!” ~Rusty Warren, comedienne
Chris Marlowe, a drag queen of a certain age, has kept the failing, New York City show bar, Tamburlaine, open because of a long-ago made promise. When a young man enters her life, Chris reconnects with the world and everything changes. The bar once again enjoys success, crowds flood to Tamburlaine for the gender-bending shows directed by The Great Jericho Taylor, and Chris’s impersonations of the famed comedienne, Rusty Warren are once again loved by audiences. So, why is someone trying to kill Christopher Marlowe—again and again?
“Kompes writes in a confident, playful prose that perfectly captures Chris’ snarky worldview…. A colorful, surprising novel about an over-the-hill artist grappling with times gone by.” ~Kirkus Reviews

“Gentle And Wonderful” “Mr. Kompes is a first-class writer.” ~Alan Arthur Katz, Amazon 5-Star Review of The Middle Man
Duke Donovan’s despot and dictator clients pay him handsomely for the information he provides through psychic and tarot card readings. When not helping others to overthrow the world, or walking his golden retriever, Duke picks up stray men off the New York City streets—artists, musicians, writers, and actors, usually—and nudges their careers forward while sharing his bed with them. His latest find, Broadway conductor, Sam Teak, begins mysteriously poisoning Duke’s butler, Malcolm. Duke has secrets, too, and there’s a ghost haunting him because of them.
Flash Mob follows famed Broadway director and choreographer Jericho Taylor as he mounts a revival of 42nd Street and produces a series Flash Mobs. Taylor discovers and falls in love with fresh-from-the-Midwest triple threat, Billy Lake and places the young man at the center of his Flash Mobs, which become a viral sensation. The seemingly spontaneous Flash Mob dance events are designed to counter the public’s fear caused by a string of terrorist bombings in the New York City area. Aamil, a young terrorist, sees Taylor’s Flash Mobs as an opportunity to escape from forced servitude and into the American way of life, but his bosses have other plans.
It’s 1851. Queen Victoria has once again called Lord Parker Greene into service, this time to discover how and why her flying mail schooners have been disappearing. While Greene chases the sky pirates, his niece and nephew, Mildred and Cole, his wards since their father disappeared, are coming of age in bucolic Wickwillowshire without much supervision beyond the staff at Wickwillow Manor.
Parker and his missing brother, Cecil, under the guise of being Plant Hunters, travel the world as Queen Victoria’s emissaries. They right the wrongs that allow England to remain a powerful and wonderful place to live, even while the rest of the world falls into squander. This time, the battle is against the Sky Pirates who have been stealing Her Majesty’s flying mail schooners. The mail currently contains plans for new steam operated objects and devices—the pirates want to steal these plans to use them against England.

As the Whispering Pines’ school year ends, Bobby Brown, almost 13, has been saving his paper route tips for one special thing, The New InterPolar Radio. Bobby is surprised when one of his customers, Mrs. Andrews, gives him a radio and their garden gnome, as partial payment for lawn care. The Andrews will be gone—long gone—leaving their home for the First Dimension, an alternative universe. And the gnome? He talks.
The idyllic hamlet is plagued by tears in the space/time continuum. Some residents move through them as a parlor game and even use them to commute to work. If you’re looking for a gay-friendly place to call home but can’t decide among the urban hustle of New York, the laidback seaside of Key West, or the open, daily life of Minneapolis, this book is for you! Travelers, Urban Pioneers, gay families and those searching for a new hometown now have an easy-to-read book that profiles 50 of America’s gay-friendliest cities.
Most guidebooks reduce coverage of the local gay community to lists – lists of bars, lists of dance clubs, lists of hotels, lists of resources. 50 Fabulous Gay-Friendly Places to Live surveys each location from a “local’s point of view”. It features cities that are fun places to live, work, and visit because they encourage and nurture diversity. Each location is described in detail, with special attention paid to information the gay community most wants to know, including:
- Gay-positive local politics and policies.
- A dynamic gay community with well-sponsored activities and events.
- Fun nightlife in local clubs, bars and music.
- Cultural and recreational opportunities.
- Positive gay health and outreach programs.
Life is more than facts and figures, so you won’t find a lot of confusing charts and rankings in these gay-friendly profiles. Each contains a vivid description, an overview of the gay community, and practical daily-life information on climate, housing costs, taxes, the local business environment, and much more. Interviews with local gay residents, community leaders, business owners, and cultural leaders create an intimate description of each location. You’ll also find helpful phone numbers and websites to make exploring and planning your vacation or relocation easier. Rounding out the book are tips and national resources that will assist in making your own life and city more gay friendly. The book also includes an easy-to-use, interactive CD containing a wealth of information to make your search that much easier—and a lot more fun!
